Case Study:
Joy and Percy contacted Eco Installer during the design stage of their self-build project, allowing us to become involved early to help ensure the heating system was correctly designed from the outset. As part of the initial planning, we carried out MCS heat-loss calculations to determine the appropriate size of the heat pump for the property. These calculations provided the information needed for their planning application and ensured the selected heating system would be suitable for their new home.
The couple then visited our office to meet with Becki and Shane, where we discussed their ideas in more detail and explored the best options for their project. Being involved at this early stage allowed us to work alongside Joy and Percy to create a renewable heating system that suited both their needs and the design of their new home. These early discussions are such an important part of the overall process, and we give them the time they need, no matter how long that takes for our client. We want them to feel heard and leave our office knowing they have chosen the right team to work with.
Following the design discussions, the quote was finalised, and Ashleigh worked closely with Joy throughout the project, ensuring each stage moved forward smoothly. As with many self-build projects, the original timelines shifted along the way, but Ashleigh was able to accommodate the updates and keep the installation on track from start to finish. In fact, the whole installation team enjoyed working on-site and being part of such an exciting project. Seeing a self-build vision come to life is always highly rewarding for us all.
The completed system integrates a highly efficient Mitsubishi Ecodan R290 air source heat pump with underfloor heating on the ground floor and new radiators upstairs, delivering comfortable, renewable warmth throughout the home. By selecting an eligible renewable heating system, Joy and Percy also benefited from the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, helping lower the overall cost of switching to low-carbon heating.
NOTE. The BUS scheme is available to self-builders and existing homeowners looking to upgrade their oil or gas central heating systems to adopt a more eco-friendly lifestyle.
