Case Study:

When architectural designer Toni Moses Design approached us to install a solar PV system on her own home, we were delighted to be involved. Having worked together on several previous projects, it was a privilege to help create an energy solution that complemented the extensive renovation of her property. The brief was to design an efficient in-roof solar PV system that would maximise renewable energy generation while blending with the new roof. We love a challenge and always aim to find the perfect design for every single client. 

Using our specialist solar design software, we assessed the available roof space and modelled different panel layouts to determine the optimum system size and expected energy generation. Following the initial design, Barry then carried out a detailed site survey, taking precise roof measurements to finalise the layout before installation.

One of the biggest challenges on this project was the roof itself. The property featured reclaimed clay roof tiles, which required additional care during installation to achieve a high-quality in-roof finish while preserving the home’s character. A collaborative approach with the roofing contractor allowed the in-roof system to become an integral part of the finished roof rather than being mounted on top.

As part of the wider project, we also upgraded the electrical supply to the garage, providing Toni’s home with a modern electrical infrastructure ready for future requirements. This installation features 13.5kWh of Eleven Energy Galvani sodium-ion battery storage, a modern alternative to conventional lithium battery technology. Combined with the hybrid inverter, the battery system allows excess solar energy generated during the day to be stored for use in the evening or during periods of lower generation, helping to reduce reliance on imported grid electricity.

The Eleven Energy system also includes an Emergency Power Supply (EPS) function. In the event of a power cut, the system can continue supplying a permanently live backup socket, provided sufficient battery capacity remains. The completed installation delivers a discreet (which was particularly important for this project), high-performance renewable energy system that also works with the property’s renovated roof. Teamwork was also crucial for this job; fortunately, we have a highly experienced team that has worked closely together for a number of years. And this is why Toni chose us!
