Case Study:
Madeleine’s ageing oil boiler was coming to the end of its life when she gave us a call. Although air source heat pumps were a very new technology to the family, it seemed an obvious choice rather than replacing their system with another oil boiler, especially as at the time oil prices were very volatile.
Shane visited Madeleine’s home and carried out MCS heat loss calculations, which concluded a 14kW Mitsubishi EcoDan air source heat pump was needed along with several radiator upgrades.
Madeleine was delighted to take advantage of the Government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) and received £5,000 towards her installation, plus her installation was at 0% VAT.
We asked Madeleine what advice she would give someone looking to start their renewable journey. “Do your research, but also find a friend or neighbour who has had it done already and ask questions and arrange to have a look at theirs. Choose an installer who is experienced and happy to give their time and answer all the questions you have.
