Case Study:

Matthew contacted us looking for advice concerning a change of heating system; these conversations often start from our clients having done some research themselves but not really being sure which system would work best for them.  There are so many options available, which is fantastic, but it can also be quite overwhelming.

Like many homeowners, Matthew had an old Vaillant combi boiler; it was coming to the end of its life, and he wanted to upgrade to something a lot more modern…and eco-friendly. He also explained that he didn’t realistically have space for a hot water tank and was keen to discuss suitable solutions. As experts in our field, we knew we could help find something that worked with his needs and the layout of his property. Sadly, it’s not a one-size-fits-all situation, but for us, that is all part of the challenge!

Matthew had a number of questions, which, in our opinion, deserved a face-to-face meeting; we pride ourselves on the personal touch and being more than just a voice on the other end of a phone. Following a site visit with Shane, we were able to offer Matthew two hot water solutions to go with a new air source heat pump. Option 1 was a Sunamp, which works fantastically with this set-up; however, it is extremely heavy, meaning we would need to check that the first floor of the property could take the weight. You can understand why we were eager to explore alternatives. Option 2 was a Heat Geek Mini Store: a smaller and lighter choice, ideal for tight spaces. After consideration, Matthew opted for the second option. On a side note, we LOVE the fact it is pink, giving it a trendy, modern edge.

Along with the heat pump installation, we also replaced six radiators, three thermostatic radiator valves on existing radiators and moved the existing external air-to-air heat pump. This created the space needed for the heat pump installation. While we were at the property, we also gave the existing radiator circuit a hot flush to get rid of any dirt or sludge in the system. We never – repeat never – do half a job! And the best part is that we finished all stages of the project in just two weeks.

Matthew was delighted to take advantage of the Government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) and received £7,500 towards his installation.

Testimonial:Very engaged, competent and professional.
We had an aging combi boiler system replaced with an air-sourced heat pump, radiator upgrades, and HeatGeek mini-store. The team from Eco Installer were great from the earliest conversations with various options and products explored, site visits, arrangement of EPC, MCS and BUS grant, and a thorough installation and commissioning process.
