Existing Heating System: Gas central heating

Technology Installed:
• 12kW Panasonic Aquarea T CAP All in One Air Source Heat pump
• Combination of Ultra Heat and Jaga radiators (heating & cooling)

Funding Used: Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) – £7,500 contribution

Location: Cambridge

Case Study:

Charlie and Clare contacted us after spotting our vans locally while exploring the idea of switching from gas central heating to an air source heat pump. Charlie had already spent time researching different heat pump manufacturers but needed reassurance around a few key challenges.

Their property didn’t have space to position the outdoor unit immediately outside the house, meaning the system would need to be installed 20 metres away, with a pipe run of just over 25 meters. Internally, they also needed their washing machine and dishwasher relocating to create space for a hot water cylinder.

In addition to efficient heating, Charlie and Clare wanted a system that could provide cooling in certain rooms to help manage summer heatwaves and maintain a comfortable temperature all year round.

Our Solution

Shane carried out a detailed site survey to fully understand the property layout, space constraints, and the couple’s requirements. Following this, we designed a bespoke system using a 12kW Panasonic Aquarea T-CAP air source heat pump, well suited to the longer pipe runs required.

To deliver both heating and cooling where needed, we installed a combination of Ultra Heat and Jaga radiators, giving year-round comfort without compromising efficiency. Internal spaces were carefully reconfigured to accommodate the Panasonic integrated (all-in-one) hot cylinder, with minimal disruption to the home.

The installation was planned and delivered efficiently, keeping Charlie and Clare fully informed throughout.

The Result

The new system provides efficient, low-carbon heating with the added benefit of cooling during warmer months. By accessing the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, the overall cost was significantly reduced, making the transition from gas both practical and affordable.

Testimonial:

Our situation was probably a bit more complicated than some in that we didn’t have space to put the outdoor heat pump unit directly outside our house, and our indoor space needed rearranging too. We also wanted to have some cooling ability from the system, to ease summer heatwaves.

Eco Installer worked with us tirelessly to find a solution and took a great deal of time and care to look into our suggestions and put forward ideas of their own. The team who came to do the installation were quick, friendly and efficient – very easy to have around – and we were kept informed throughout about dates and timing. The whole thing was completed quite quickly. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Eco Installer to anyone looking to have a heat pump installed.
