Air Source Heat Pumps
Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP) have been in operation since 1973, therefore, contrary to popular belief, this is not a new or untested technology.
An Air Source Heat Pump uses freely available energy from the ambient air to provide low cost heating and hot water at air temperatures as low as -20°C. Because the source of heat, the air, is abundantly available all around us, they have the advantage of low installation costs, and minimal space requirements. With our relatively mild UK winter temperatures excellent levels of efficiency and performance can be achieved throughout the year.
Benefits of having an Air Source or Ground Source Heat Pump:
- They lower your fuel bills, particularly if you are replacing conventional electric heating, LPG and oil
- Simple to integrate with most existing heating systems
- You can heat your water under-floor heating and home
- Receive a £7,500 contribution towards your installation costs with the Governments Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS).
- Lower your home’s carbon footprint
- No fuel deliveries as the system uses energy from the air
Air Source Heat Pumps – Efficiency With Flexible Positioning
Air Source Heat Pumps are an excellent replacement for your ageing oil-fired central heating, providing you with heating and water temperatures of up to 65 degrees Celsius.
Some Air Source Heat Pumps can be reversed in order to cool the same space – a big advantage in the summer months. The reason heat pumps are considered so efficient is because they merely transfer heat, they burn minimal energy in order to create it. Another advantage is that the pump can easily be integrated with other renewable technologies, such as solar thermal panels and under-floor heating, providing you with lower cost hot water and heating.
