Case Study:

A customer will often come back to us more than once for different projects on their property. This case study is a classic example of that, and it is always a pleasure to see familiar faces again.

Robert contacted us as he was seeking a way to replace his oil-fired central heating system with a renewable and efficient alternative, and he discovered Eco Installer through our website. He completed our Free Estimate tool to get an idea of the costs involved, which is a great starting point for anyone considering making the switch. After receiving his initial quote, Robert arranged a meeting with Shane, who carried out full MCS heat loss calculations to confirm the correct size heat pump. It was also the ideal time to assess whether any radiators needed upgrading…and they did.

Following our survey, we recommended and installed an 8.5kW Mitsubishi Ecodan R32 air-to-water heat pump, along with a 210ltr hot water cylinder and nine replacement radiators. This system fully replaced Robert’s oil heating system, offering a modern, energy-efficient solution. We had ticked all the boxes which were on his original wish list, making both him and us very happy indeed.

Robert expressed interest in further reducing his reliance on fossil fuels by adding solar PV and battery storage. Working from our eco office in Witchford, Becki produced a bespoke design for his property, while Barry completed the site visit to finalise details. The final system consisted of a 4.7kW solar PV installation using Eurener 475W panels, connected to a Fox ESS H1 G2 3.68kW single-phase hybrid inverter and paired with a Fox ESS EP11-H 10.36kWh battery. To provide resilience, we also fitted a mini distribution board and backup socket to allow for power in the event of a power cut.

After the solar PV installation, we issued Robert with his complete handover pack, enabling him to apply for the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) with his chosen energy provider. This means Robert can export surplus electricity back to the grid, generating an additional income from his investment. The household now enjoys a complete renewable heating and energy system, combining heat pump technology with solar PV and battery storage. His home is not only more energy-efficient but also future-proofed against rising energy costs – because we know they are coming!

As Eco Installer are MCS certified, we were able to secure Robert and his family £7,500 of funding through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS), significantly reducing the upfront cost of the heat pump installation. We have thoroughly enjoyed working with Robert on both projects and look forward to returning for his annual air source heat pump service.

Testimonial:

“Eco Installer fixed us up with solar panels, an inverter and a battery . . they have a good design based on FoxESS systems and components but not a ‘one size fits all’ approach as they were happy to discus options and respond positively to our requests . . installation was smooth, essentially taking just one day and scaffolding was taken down promptly . . back at the office all handover documents arrived promptly so that we were able to satisfy UK Power Networks and be added to the Smart Guarantee Scheme all our questions were dealt with promptly and the installation engineers went out of their way to be pleasant and provide the solution we were looking for”.
