Sue and Richard spotted us installing a solar PV installation at a neighbour’s property and gave us a call to get some prices for their property. Word of mouth or spotting a job well done is where a significant amount of our business comes from; it is also part of the growing trend for ditching fossil fuels. They had been considering an upgrade of their oil heating system for a while, and making the switch to renewable energy was at the top of their priority list. They had done a lot of their own research but also had a number of questions regarding air source heat pumps and solar PV systems to offset some of their running costs. We were more than happy to help.
Eco Installer gave them a budgetary cost online (something everyone should take advantage of!), and then Shane carried out a site survey and our standard heat loss calculations. The conclusion was that an 8.5kW Mitsubishi EcoDan heat pump would meet the property’s heat loss specifications to perfection. Following the appointment, Sue and Richard visited the office and our fancy pants newly upgraded showroom to see and hear the heat pumps in action. The team also showed them our range of cylinders to give them a good feel of how a heat pump set-up would work in their home – along with how it would look cosmetically. It ticked all the boxes.
Along with the heat pump, we replaced several radiators. Sue and Richard had only recently had a new bathroom fitted, but we managed to find the perfect radiator for this room without needing to make any pipework – or tile – alterations. We even impress ourselves sometimes! The next step in the project was the removal of the oil tank from their back garden, which freed up a large area of this space, creating the option to extend their patio and create a stunning new seating area. Sue and Richard opted to have their heat pump sprayed in an anthracite colour (we use a local company for this) so that it blends in with the garden; aesthetically, this is always a popular choice and finishes off the job with that extra wow factor.
Whilst Mikey and Tom carried out the heat pump installation, Barry and Chris carried out the solar PV installation…this was completed over a few days, as Barry also did the electrical works for the heat pump installation and installed the battery in the customer’s garage which was the perfect location. We may be slightly biased, but we believe that we have a dream team here at Eco Installer!
Sue and Richard are delighted with their new renewable heating system (including solar panels), and in just one day, they had already filled their battery by lunchtime.
