– Smart Export Guarantee (SEG), for the solar installation
Bev contacted our sales team looking to replace their ageing oil-fired boiler, which had reached the end of its life. Keen to move away from fossil fuels, they wanted a fully renewable solution that would reduce their running costs and carbon footprint. While upgrading their heating system, they were also interested in generating their own energy using solar PV and adding battery storage for maximum efficiency.
Heat pump installation:
Shane visited the family home in Prickwillow to carry out a full MCS heat loss assessment. The calculations confirmed that an 8.5kW Mitsubishi Ecodan R290 air source heat pump would be the ideal option for their property. A 200L heat pump hot water cylinder was included to ensure reliable hot water performance, and we also installed a chrome towel radiator in the bathroom.
Jon and the team completed the installation over the course of a week. Because the homeowners were replacing an existing oil system, we were able to secure the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) grant on their behalf, significantly reducing their upfront costs.
Solar PV and battery installation:
At the same time as the heat pump installation, Barry and our solar team fitted a 6kW solar PV array using Eurener Nexa 500W all-black bifacial panels, paired with a Fox ESS 5kW hybrid inverter and a Fox ESS 10.36kWh battery. This system will allow the family to generate and store their own electricity, reducing grid reliance and unlocking long-term energy savings. They will also benefit from the Smart Export Guarantee, earning money for any surplus energy exported back to the grid.
This project showcases how combining air source heating with solar PV and battery storage can deliver a highly efficient, low-carbon home. Bev and Leigh now enjoy reliable, renewable heating and long-term energy savings, all while significantly reducing their carbon footprint.

Testimonial:
When our 40 year old oil boiler finally packed up we knew we wanted to be green if we could. Eco Installer made this possible. Our heat pump installation was a great experience. Jon lead the team, who made the installation hassle free (and his work is wonderfully neat). Our solar installation took at little longer than expected but the electrician’s work was neat and he was super polite.
